From the beginning, the Church has always held up martyrs as the epitome of the Christian life. After all, Jesus said that "greater love has no man" than to lay down his life. Even an early Church writer said that "the blood of martyrs is the seed of Christians". To this day, martyrdom still occurs in many places in the world. Who are some of the martyrs who have made an impact on us? Is martyrdom something that Christians should desire?
